Staff Software Engineer

As a Staff Software Engineer you will help lead, design, enhance, build and provide Quality Assurance for our solutions meant for customers in an agile, fast-paced environment. You will be working with colleagues across the company, who will help support and challenge you every day. Designing solutions, writing code, unit testing code, developing test cases, automating test cases and frequent check-ins for continuous integration is just part of your DNA. You will see your team’s code going to production in just a few weeks and used by strategic accounts worldwide. Note that this role will have a strong and primary emphasis on Quality Assurance for features developed and bugs fixed within the team. •Design and develop new systems as well as enhancements and fixing defects in existing software.

•Develop test strategy, test cases & functionally test features end-to-end, to ensure optimum quality of solutions.

•Automate testing using proprietary Visa frameworks as well as other open-source / commercial tools to achieve maximum test coverage.

•Play a QA Lead role for newly developed features & carry out testing efforts such as functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, bug tracking etc.

•Lead and provide technical mentoring to a team of talented engineers and train them on QA best practices

•Leverage newer technologies and develop solutions to build the next generation of payment solutions.

•Help our clients achieve their business goals by understanding their requirements and delivering the best solution.

•Lead efforts to architect, design and implement / test various aspects of secure payment solutions

•Periodically rotate into the role of Scrum Master to lead agile, scrum teams for a given sprint.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technology field; Typically, candidates are expected to have8+ years of experience working in a technology company on Java and related technologies. Experience in delivering Quality Assurance for enterprise-class, mission-critical, commercial, and scalable products is strongly preferred.

We want our Staff Software Engineers to do much more than just write code and perform manual and automated testing. You would be expected to bring in expertise that include:

•Solid Experience in technologies including JAVA, J2EE, REST, UI Frameworks, ORACLE, LINUX, KAFKA, HADOOP, etc.

•Expertise in various testing methodologies such as functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, penetration testing & performance testing is necessary.

•Solid experience in tools like JMeter, SoapUI, Postman / Any REST Client is a must have.

•Exposure to Spring Framework and Hibernate is a must have. Understanding the workings of an MVC Framework like Spring MVC, Struts, etc. would also be good to have.

Testing will be both manual and automated with a drive to remove manual testing from the process. In addition to functional testing, the senior QA is responsible for quality assurance of non-functional areas such as performance, security, installation /upgrade.

Requirements

Responsibilities and key tasks

The following are areas of responsibility for the senior QA. From time to time these responsibilities may vary and additional responsibilities may be added.

Solution Design and Test Planning

Working within an Agile development team(s), the senior QA is responsible for developing and continually refining the test strategy, plans, processes and standards, covering functional and nonfunctional testing, both manual and automated.

Given this, the senior QA will:

● Document and implement test strategies, plans, processes and standards

● Define and maintain the test automation framework and ensure that appropriate testing tools are selected and applied optimally

● Review the architecture and designs of systems and features, and actively engage with developers to ensure the soundness of proposed solutions

● Review and revise acceptance criteria to guarantee they are fit for purpose once fulfilled

● Create and maintain configuration notes for the testing environments, both functional and nonfunctional (e.g. performance testing) environments.

● On a day-to-day basis the senior QA will identify, report and prioritise defects, working with support teams, and coordinate with developers to locate and assist in identifying and resolving software defects.

Functional Testing

The senior QA is responsible for planning, overseeing and performing functional testing, this will include:

● Reviewing acceptance criteria (i.e. behaviours) for accuracy, clarity and completeness

● Extending and maintaining the regression test suite, which doubles as the system (behaviour) specification

● Performing manual tests, recording the results and raising defects

● Developing and maintaining automated functional tests, using tools such as Selenium

● Developing and executing automated smoke tests

● Performing and coordinating exploratory testing

Non-Functional Testing

The senior QA is responsible for planning, overseeing and performing non-functional testing, covering performance, security, installation/upgrade/configuration. This will include:

● Identifying and reviewing non-functional requirements

● Analysing current system load, predicting future load and then defining appropriate performance baselines and targets

● Defining and executing performance testing and troubleshooting and resolving performance related issues

● Using web application security tools to identify security issues

● Communicating security test results to technical and business stakeholders and working collaboratively to resolve security issues

● Performing installations, upgrades and system configuration testing, including confirming the accuracy of installation documentation and release notes

● Profiling the production software environment(s) for possible performance issues.

• Strong desire for process optimisation and gaining efficiency through automation

• Minimum 10 years of IT experience and 5 years leading teams undergoing DevOps related transformation

• Ability to work at several levels of an organization to define and implement a transformation strategy with specific measured outcome goals.

• Familiar with both waterfall and Agile/DevOps practices and processes

• Experience in relevant IT process optimization activities is required

• Project experience in one or more DevOps roles as a DevOps lead, configuration management leador release manager is desired

• Familiar with the use of basic project management tools for planning and tracking

• Prior experience in software development using one or more programming/scripting languages is desired(e.g. Shell scripting, Java, etc)

• Worked with DevOps tool chains (E.g. Jira, Confluence, Kunernetes, Selenium, SOAPUI, Bamboo, Jenkins, Ansible, Marvin, Github, Bitbucket, SV, etc.)

• Worked in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery environment with strong appreciation of change/version control process and methodologies

• Experience with on-premises, legacy, hybrid and cloud native applications and delivery models

• Experience working in a secured multi-tier heterogeneous environment is mandatory

• Experienced at driving institutional change in culture, skills, practices/processes and technology while maintaining day to day productivity goals

• Knowledge of emerging technologies/platforms in Mobility, Analytics, Cloud and Social with a strong self-initiative to keep up with Digital trends

• Working experience in a financial services industry and/or operating under strict regulatory constraints is an advantage

• Problem solver with ability to see things in multiple angles, constantly challenge the norm and constantly looking for better solutions to problems

• Strong presenter being able to articulate differentiated value to a wide range of audiences

We are looking for a Digital Test Automation Architect who can design and implement an end-to-end testing approach bringing together mobility, analytics and interactive into a unified test framework to deliver a seamless user experience across numerous connected devices, interfaces, networks, & platforms.

In this role, you will mainly focus on defining the overall test automation strategies, developing test frameworks, setting up guidelines for building automated tests within the test frameworks. Additionally, you will play a key role in building out the test infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

•Evaluate if test automation is suitable given a project complexity.
•Recommend the most suitable tool suite available in the market given client's constraints and current gaps.
•Assessing extent of automation in terms of application suitability, client budget and other constraints.
•Creating repeatable test models.
•Determining the starting point of automation in the development life cycle.
•Recommending the number of passes per test cycle.
•Work with the engineering team to design and plan one or more of the following: component, assembly, application and integration product test, performance and user acceptance test.
•Managing a test environment with client IT.
•If a third party product is involved, maturity in managing the product vendor in terms of level of support, contractual obligations etc. is expected.
•Ensure that the team follows the testing standards, guidelines, and testing methodology as specified in the testing approach..

It's essential that you have the following skills and experience:

•A minimum 5 years of experience of designing and implementing test automation solutions for desktop applications, mobile sites and mobile applications using Selenium, Appium, Cucumber, JMeter, SoapUI, Postman or equivalent.
•Possesses expertise in automating functional tests, speed tests, device profiling, API tests, security tests, OS and device compatibility tests.
•Hands-on knowledge with setting up DevOps is preferred.
•Automated test execution experience on devices as well as emulators.
•A result driven attitude and good communication skills.
